Ethereum to Solana converter

Live ETH-SOL ratio computed from each crypto's USD spot price on Phemex. Both ETH and SOL are top-10 cryptocurrencies — the ratio between them rotates with which thesis the market is rewarding.

About the ETH-SOL pair

ETH-SOL captures the relationship between the dominant smart-contract platform and its highest-throughput challenger. Both chains host smart contracts, DeFi, NFTs, and stablecoin activity — but with very different fee structures and execution models. ETH transactions cost dollars during peak times; SOL transactions cost fractions of a cent. The ratio swings based on relative on-chain activity: when ETH gas fees are low and L2 activity is concentrated on the Ethereum side, ETH outperforms SOL; when memecoin or fast-trading activity is hot on Solana, SOL outperforms ETH.

Ethereum (ETH)

the second-largest cryptocurrency by market value and the settlement layer for most decentralised finance, NFTs, and stablecoin activity. ETH-fiat pairs are nearly as liquid as BTC's on the major exchanges, but the price often diverges from BTC during periods of strong on-chain activity (high gas fees correlate with ETH outperformance). Stakers earn an annualised yield of roughly 3-4% in ETH for locking coins to the network — a structural reason some holders prefer it over BTC for long horizons.

Solana (SOL)

a high-throughput blockchain that's become the dominant network for fast, cheap on-chain trading and a meaningful share of stablecoin transfers. SOL-fiat pairs are liquid on the larger exchanges but spreads can be a few basis points wider than BTC's on the same venue. The chain processes thousands of transactions per second at sub-cent fees — a structural difference from ETH that's reflected in the kind of activity SOL holders typically use it for (memecoins, perpetuals, NFT mints).

Ethereum to Solana — frequently asked

Where can I swap ETH for SOL?
Most major centralised exchanges support direct ETH/SOL markets — Binance, OKX, Kraken, Coinbase. Onchain swaps require crossing chains: bridges like Wormhole or deBridge handle ETH→SOL transfers. Centralised swaps are faster and cheaper for retail amounts; onchain wins for non-custodial preference.
Why are SOL transactions so much cheaper than ETH?
Different consensus and execution models. Solana uses a proof-of-history + proof-of-stake hybrid that processes thousands of transactions per second at a base fee of 0.000005 SOL (fractions of a cent). Ethereum mainnet processes 15-30 transactions per second; demand for blockspace pushes gas fees into dollar-range during busy periods. L2 networks (Arbitrum, Optimism, Base) close part of this gap by settling many transactions to mainnet in batches, but L1 ETH still costs more than L1 SOL.
Is SOL a 'better' chain than ETH?
Different trade-offs. SOL prioritises throughput and low fees; ETH prioritises decentralisation and security guarantees (~10,000 nodes vs SOL's ~1,500). For high-frequency trading, memecoin mints, and consumer apps where fees matter, SOL has structural advantages. For high-value DeFi, institutional settlement, and applications where Ethereum's deeper security matters, ETH leads. The market hasn't picked a single winner.
What's the ETH-SOL ratio's historical range?
Highly variable. SOL/ETH bottomed near 0.005 during the FTX collapse aftermath (late 2022, when SOL was deeply out of favour) and peaked above 0.06 during peak 2024 SOL outperformance. The ratio reflects how much capital is rotating between the two L1 ecosystems — a 12× range across a two-year window.
Can I stake either crypto from the same exchange?
Yes — most major exchanges (Coinbase, Kraken, Binance) offer staking-as-a-service for both ETH (~3-4% APR) and SOL (~6-7% APR). Self-custody staking is also accessible for both: ETH via Lido or solo validators, SOL via any Solana wallet. SOL's higher staking yield is structural — the chain has higher inflation than post-merge Ethereum, so the gross yield is higher, with a similar net economic outcome over time.
