Install Retired Today

Retired Today works as a PWA — a Progressive Web App. That means you can add it to your phone, tablet, or laptop home screen and use it like a normal installed app: full-screen, no browser bar, an icon you tap.

There's nothing to download. No app store. No update prompts. Open the site in your browser, hit Install (or Add to Home Screen), and you're done.

On iPhone or iPad (Safari)

  1. Open retired.today in Safari (it has to be Safari — Chrome on iOS can't add PWAs to the home screen).
  2. Tap the Share icon at the bottom of the screen — the square with the arrow pointing up.
  3. Scroll the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Confirm the name and tap Add in the top right.

The Retired Today icon now sits on your home screen like any other app. Tap it to open — it'll launch full-screen, no Safari toolbar.

If you don't see "Add to Home Screen" in the share sheet, scroll down — it's sometimes hidden below the row of apps.

On Android (Chrome)

  1. Open retired.today in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (top right).
  3. Tap Install app or Add to Home Screen.
  4. Confirm the name and tap Install.

You can also wait for Chrome's own prompt — when the site is installable, it shows a small banner offering to install.

On desktop (Chrome, Edge, Brave)

  1. Open retired.today in Chrome, Edge, or Brave.
  2. Look at the address bar. On the right side you'll see a small icon — a screen with a downward arrow, or a + symbol.
  3. Click it and confirm Install.

The app opens in its own window — no tabs, no address bar, no browser chrome. It also adds to your dock / start menu like a normal app.

If you don't see the icon in the address bar:

On Mac (Safari 17+)

  1. Open retired.today in Safari.
  2. Click File in the menu bar → Add to Dock…
  3. Adjust the name if you like, click Add.

Safari adds the app to your Dock and treats it like a native Mac app — Spotlight finds it, Mission Control shows it, you can pin it.
